Panther Profile: Ana Pacella
Ana Pacella, Marketing major from Venezuela is making the most of her Global First Year experience at FIU by getting involved in some of Miami’s coolest opportunities!
South Beach Food & Wine Festival:
“I’m not a hospitality major, so at first I was a bit hesitant to volunteer to work at the festival, but then I thought, why not? It will be a cool experience and something to put on my resume. I’m SO glad I did it now.
I spent the evening working at an “Italian Bites” party at the festival with the chef from renowned Miami restaurant, Cipriani. I helped set up for the party, plate food, and greet people as they arrived. I got to meet the chef and chat with him, he invited me to his restaurant and said he would love to work together in the future. I plan to reach out to him as I would love to work in restaurant marketing.
All in all, the experience was really fun! I will definitely be working at the festival again next year. I made money and got an incredible experience to put on my resume. Plus, everyone volunteering at the festival were also FIU students, so it was fun sharing the night with people my own age and making friends,” said Pacella.
Victoria’s Secret Brand Ambassador:
“I saw on Instagram that Victoria’s Secret was looking for campus representatives at FIU, so I applied and got chosen! I am working as a brand ambassador for PINK (Victoria’s Secret) on campus.
I am working on their social media and marketing initiatives, event planning, working with corporate sponsors, and testing products by participating in focus groups. I am getting real hands-on marketing experience working for a brand I have always been passionate about. I plan to continue working with them on-campus and am hopeful the opportunity can turn into an internship or job in the future.”
Career Accelerator Program:
“I am also very active in the Global First Year Career Accelerator Program. Being part of CAP has really helped me prepare to take on roles such as the brand ambassador position with Victoria’s Secret and participating in the South Beach Food & Wine Festival because CAP really helps you learn how to talk to employers and present yourself during opportunities. I feel like CAP has really helped me build myself as a professional and feel confident sending out my resume.”
Ana also spends her time on campus pursuing an area she is passionate about – global learning. She is currently working toward earning the FIU Global Learning Medallion and has already completed her Global Competency Certification. When she has some free time, she takes flamenco lessons at a local dance studio!
